Early Man
The Earliest known human race was Homo Erectus. They date back to 1.8 million years ago and came from Africa. Homo Erectus means "Upright Man ", and later developed into Homo Sapiens, which are known as, " Wise Man". These people developed over time, and learned to make fire. Fire was key in their survival and provided many uses. With fire, homo sapiens could cook food, and stay warm at night. The fire helped repel insects, predators, and other dangerous animals.
Even before Homo Erectus evolved their was Australopithecus, otherwise known as, " Southern Ape". This species could stand somewhat upright and could climb many things. This also included making variations of tools, bone, and stone. They ate plants, and some meat, and were known for scavenging. After this species, Homo Habilis developed and were much more advanced. " Handy Man" was the other term used for Homo Habilis. They existed about 1.4 to 2.33 million years ago, and lived during the Gelasian Pleistocene Era. They had a short body, but long arms, and had a brain half the size of the modern human. They used stone tools to kill animals to provide food.
Neanderthals were another kind of human kind. They were non- intelligent brutes, which were much taller, and stronger. Their brains were much larger than ours and very advanced for their time. The Neanderthals died out at around 30,000 BCE. Our current species is Homo Sapien, and our genetics make our skin different colors, which did not develop until about 12 Ka. With this species evolving, fire, clothing, shelter, and food were key in their evolution.

SCHOLAR QUOTES
1.) " Chimps are unbelievably like us – in biological, non-verbal ways. They can be loving and compassionate and yet they have a dark side… 98 per cent of our DNA is the same. The difference is that we have developed language – we can teach about things that aren’t there, plan for the future, discuss, share ideas…" –Jane Goodall
2.)" Man still bears in is bodily frame the indelible stamp of his lowly origin." -Charles Darwin
3.) "It is important to get the relationship between nature and humankind right, both in it's long-term development and in it's present possibility" - Richard Potts
4.)" The evolution of the brain not only overshot the needs of prehistoric man, it is the only example of evolution providing a species with an organ which it does not know how to use." - Arthur Koestler
5.) " My father used to say that, through culture, humans effectively domesticated themselves." - Richard E. Leakey
